The Flying Witch

I wanted to create a simple but representative logo for Sorcellerie wines. The flying witch on a broomstick is an image I “summon” whenever I thing of Sorcellerie, witchcraft, and magic. I then imagined that perhaps the witch, responsible for all this “Sorcellerie” would likely use an old vine root stock, at least as old as she is, to really produce the very best, most concentrated, complex, rich wine. This ageless, low yield vine, you will notice, is from a special root stock which only produced one grape cluster and one leaf. That is the most extreme case of low yield one can attain (with a little Sorcellerie that is). All energy from this unique root stock would focus to nourish and mature that single grape cluster for a remarkably concentrated flavor busting fruit. So, together with Hayley Partridge, we created the flying witch on an ageless low yield root stock….The wine from that vine will certainly produce memorable ones, if the witch can find enough of those rootstocks for a reasonable production… Hurry up, this really is small production, custom wines, from some of the very best vineyards in California.
